About Brendan Collum

Brendan Collum lives in Co. Longford, near the centre of Ireland.  Self taught artist has been working with Bog Oak for the last thirty years, which is found in his local area.

Brendan works on his own, he has been experimenting and researching with Bog Oak over the years.

His great love is for the artistic sculpture of the natural twisted roots that suggest the shape of the piece, let it be an abstract sculpture or root that looks like a bird, animal or human form etc. He helps the shape along. He can also carve a form, from soaking wet Oak from the bog, when it dries it reduces and twists and takes an individual unique shape of its own.  Over the years his eye for design has changed and developed.
